It was a quiet morning as we drove across the plains in Lewa Conservancy, north of Nairobi.
I love to come back here; it is a wonderful location, great people and they work hard to protect the rhino species.
We stopped the car to observe the rhino grazing ahead of us. It was a black rhino and I could only see it from the side. It is difficult to take a great picture of these species, often they run away long time before you are close enough and you only get to see their bums!
So we were sitting and waiting so quietly that hearing my own breath was already felt a disturbance.
Then, when I carefully adjusted my position in the car, the rhino looked up, started to run, stopped, looked up again. I thought “oh no!”, but then realized that I just had to make the best from the situation.
When the rhino changed its direction and ran off, I was lucky to capture it while passing our car.
A beautiful image which also gives enough room for the landscape and habitat of these wonderful species.
