The Gables is a recently converted Cape Dutch house-to-retail space in suburban Sandhurst, offering tranquility in the heart of busy Sandton, Johannesburg. We offer fine coffee at Hand Brew Cafe, a high end curated retail space of furniture/art and photography/ceramics (and more), and a large garden for events and functions.
I have travelled to many rural places in Namibia, Botswana and Kenya to capture the spirit of people who still live a very primordial life – visited the Himba, Bushmen and Massai.
And I truly felt inspired when I could connect with them through the eyes of my camera.
When portraying the people of Africa my aim is to show how I see things and what my impression was in that moment when the photograph was taken. “Modern society doesn’t stop and the old rituals and appearances are soon fading from view. So I want to preserve the original and tribal look of these people that are the heritage of the African continent.”
This is what the collection of my Tribal portraits is about.
You can view more tribal portraits here.
Images are available to purchase as limited edition (edition of 99 prints) fine art prints in various sizes, all personally signed by Klaus Tiedge.
Klaus Tiedge will be showcasing at the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany next month. Klaus’s wife Sandra will be attending the fair and will be present at stand L90 in Hall 4.1. The Frankfurt book fair is one of the worlds largest book fairs and with our coffee table book “Pride of Africa” we will be looking to make an impression to the international audience and discussing our new book project with publishers as well as further distribution opportunities with our existing book.
We are very excited and looking forward to meeting new and our existing business partners.
